FHVA 4th Annual Holiday Light Contest
The Four Hills Village Association (FHVA.org) is pleased to announce the winners of the 4th annual Holiday Light Contest. The judges report that there were many, many wonderfully decorated homes, and picking just three was no easy task.
Congratulations to the top three homes for 2021:
904 Cuatro Cerros Trail
1405 Soplo Road
1525 Bush Court
Winners will receive a $50 gift card from FHVA.
And a huge thanks to everyone who has made this season a little brighter--it is a time when light, both real and metaphorical, is much needed.

Four Hills Village Traffic Study
The City of Albuquerque is planning to discuss a Neighborhood Traffic study to install traffic calming measures on problem areas within the Four Hills development. The project will decrease the speeds encountered on this street segment as well as address any other needs necessary. This is an opportunity for the public to ask questions, and provide input to the City.

Keep Albuquerque Beautiful: A large thank you for a large clean-up job at the Four Hills Park for the City's participation in Keep America Beautiful. For about a decade, the Four Hills Village Association (www.FHVA.org) has coordinated this event in Four Hills. The crew: Paul Feist, Marilou and Jim Cochran, Rusty Goetz, Ann Harris Davidson, Ellen Lipman, Paul Sedillo, Steve Brugge, Rob Grilley, Matthew Allen, and Abbas Akhil (not pictured). We were even joined by Mayor Tim Keller at the KAFB fence line at the end of the morning.

ONE ALBUQUERQUE Cleanup Month Press Conference
Including our very own Rusty Goetz discussing our neighborhood's
participation in this event (starting at six minutes into the video).
Four Hills Village Residents, in celebration of Earth Day, April 22, the Four Hills Village Association (FHVA.org) has signed up to participate in the Saturday, April 24, City-wide Cleanup effort. This year there are several major changes in the process. There will be no Waste Management trucks roving the streets for pickups. Instead, we will be using a central drop-off location at the Phil Chacon Park on Southern Ave. Another change this year is that the City will only take those items that fit in a bag. They are unable to pick up large items (stoves, mattresses, bumpers, etc.).
Our plan is to concentrate our efforts on cleaning up the Four Hills Park located at Stagecoach Rd and Running Water Circle SE. There are lots of limbs down and windblown trash after the big storms we have had this winter and spring. If we have enough volunteers and time, we will add in cleaning along the fence on the west side of the Wagon Train Dr by Kirtland Base.
Plan to assemble at Four Hills Park at 8:00 AM and work until noon. Please dress appropriately for the weather and for working in rough areas. Wear heavy footwear and bring your gloves, hats, and water. Please plan to employ social distancing with folks who are not part of your “pod” and to wear masks when working closely with those folks.
Contact Rusty Goetz at [email protected] and leave a good email or contact phone number for updates. Of course, if you want to join us on the spur of the moment please come to the park and join in the fun!
4 Hills Road Erosion Control and Beautification Project
Kudos and thanks to a number of people who are responsible for the current erosion control and beautification of the east side of Four Hills Road:
This is another example of how the Four Hills Village Association (FHVA.org) is working with the city and state to make this unique neighborhood even nicer.
Steve Brügge FHVA President
- Jim Cochran, Past-President of the Four Hills Village Association, who spearheaded this idea a few years ago.
- Abbas Akhil, then State Representative, and now member of the FHVA Board, for initiating funding.
- Andrew Lipman, former Board member, for following through when the funding lapsed.
- City Councilor Don Harris for getting the City to plan and get to work.

Annual General Meeting
The FHVA Annual General Meeting was held online on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Below are the Agenda and Financial Statement along with several presentations from guest speakers.
Really Good News!
(from the Open Space page)
The City of Albuquerque has just closed on an additional 61 acres of Open Space land to our north and east. It is a large contiguous parcel that captures the missing triangular bit of space at the north end of the Manzano Open Space and continues eastward from the West Tijeras block along old Rt 66 to the stables in Carnuel, excepting the land the church sits on. Compare the Open Space map image posted near the bottom of this page to the new one that John Keliiaa just sent me, and you will see that it is a significant gain of protected space. The Open Space folks have not yet assigned a name to this area but I will post it when I learn their choice.
